One thing I really enjoyed at Brown was meeting people studying the most cutting-edge topics in their respective domains. I loved talking to people about what they are passionate about and learning about their research interests.

Where have you been working since you graduated from the program? What do you do in your current position?

I am currently working at an AI start-up in Palo Alto called Vianai Systems as a data scientist and ML engineer. Most days I am splitting my time improving our product and setting up pilots for our customers.

Tell us a bit about the courses you took during the program: Did you have a favorite class? Which elective did you choose? What did you work on in your practicum course?

My favorite course was CSCI 2470 (Deep Learning) with Professor Chen Sun because it was really informative and provided me with a really great background in deep learning. Professor Sun was really accessible and the course TAs were also super helfpul.

For my elective, I took APMA 2822B (Parallel Computing on Heterogeneous Systems) becuse I was interested in the inner workings of CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture).

My practicum project was to build a multi-modal vLLM system for defection analysis in a glass manufacturing setting. During this project, I learned to fine-tune a vLLM for a defect analysis task and to deploy a production ready application.

What were some of the most important technical skills you learned during the program?

Deep Learning, SQL, Natural Language Processing

What was your favorite thing about Brown or the program?
