What initially made you interested in data science?
During my undergraduate career, I studied Applied Mathematics (APMA) at Brown. Through my course requirements and electives, I learned about how data science has relevance in various departments, including Public Health, Geology, Education, and even Music. The amazing ability to draw key insights from what seems to be a mess of ambiguous, confusing, and unstructured data is one of the many reasons I am interested in data science.
What are some of the most important skills that you learned during the program?
Although the program has solidified my technical knowledge, I think the most important skill I've learned is the ability to present the results of a complex analysis in an understandable way. This will be especially important when working in industry since data scientists often work on an interdisciplinary team and are tasked with presenting their work to stakeholders or executives with different backgrounds.
What are your plans following the program?
I am working as an analyst for Hawaiian Airlines in the Revenue Forecasting & Analytics department.
