2026 Data Science Seed & Collaborative Grants

DSI is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2026 Data Science Seed & Collaborative Grants, whose projects from across the university will stimulate innovation and support education in data-driven fields.

The Brown Data Science Institute is honored to continue supporting cutting-edge research and education projects across Brown that apply data science methodologies, bolster data fluency across disciplines, and leverage the power of data science for a more equitable society. After considering a record-number of diverse proposals this year, DSI will fund seven Seed Grants and four Collaborative Grants.

This year’s projects will stimulate innovation and support education in data-driven fields, from establishing educational pipelines on large-language models for health and social scientists, to investigating how the dissolution of the US Department of Education has impacted education nationwide, to developing a Career Readiness Index for students at Brown, and supporting physics students developing advanced algorithms for handling data-intensive projects.

Thank you to everyone who submitted proposals for this year’s Data Science Seed & Collaborative Grants. Find additional information about the funding and submission process for Data Science Seed & Collaborative Grants.

We look forward to honoring our grant recipients at the DSI Award Recipient Celebration on January 14th at 4:00pm at 164 Angell Street. This award ceremony will also honor the 2026 Early Career Breakthrough Research Award recipients.
