Linda Clark

Biography

Dr. Linda Clark holds a joint appointment with the Data Science Institute and the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning at Brown.  Dr. Clark is responsible for developing an introductory Data Science Fluency undergraduate course, a Data Science Fellows course, and supporting the work of faculty integrating data science and data literacy into their classrooms. 

Before coming to Brown, Dr. Clark earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education and a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Penn State University, and a B.A. degree in Psychology from Clark University. Dr. Clark’s career spans administrative positions supporting diversity initiatives, intercollegiate athletics, student support, and institutional research. Her faculty appointments include the Department of Statistics at Penn State and the Department of Educational Leadership at Central Connecticut State University. Dr. Clark’s research relates to the organizational aspects related to assessment and operations in higher education, including multiple interdisciplinary works examining assessment efforts of academic programs. Dr. Clark serves on multiple NSF grants examining student outcomes

Outside of academia, Dr. Clark consulted in corporate settings, designing, implementing, and executing statistical analyses as part of larger data science projects.  She also supported smaller-scale projects related to health care and customer surveys.
