How does your research, teaching, or other work relate to data or computational science?
As the Assistant Director of the Community-Engaged Data and Evaluation Collaborative (CEDEC), my current role is to facilitate data and evaluation capacity building in Rhode Island nonprofits and public agencies through partnerships with Brown University faculty, staff and students. I scope and develop community-based projects, many of which require data science, engineering and analysis, that are matched out to Brown resources. I also mentor and advise students who are learning skills like Python and R coding and building dashboards and maps; these skills directly contribute to their professional and technical goals and opportunities beyond Brown University. My academic background is in quantitative ecology, and I have authored or co-authored peer-reviewed publications on R code development and stakeholder engagement, phytochemical ecology and phylogenetics.
